How To Install Log Siding Trim

How to install log siding trim.

We suggest starting your pioneer log siding at the bottom and working your way up. Our pine and cedar trim is available in smooth or hand hewn to match your log siding choice. Start at the bottom and work your way up the wall. Make sure you have the j channel behind the start and the j channel is flush with the top of the door or window. Our versatile log siding trim is shaped like a d for a full log look. On the interior do the same but for corners rip your own 2 x 2 vertical boards. Be sure to use exterior galvanized nails or 2 coated deck screws to install the log siding. The siding should be stored in a dry environment until you are ready for installation.

In most cases window and door trim is installed first and j blocks if applicable. Don t forget windows doors need log trim too. This will speed up installation and help prevent water. You will need to install j channel for around all your windows and doors before starting your siding it will make the installation of the steel siding much easier.

These trims are cut and installed prior to the log siding application. Use a transparent or matching caulking around them. Modulog siding must be fastened through the face of the log at the top and bottom of each piece. V notch corner logs or corner trim should be installed before installing the siding too.
