There are two reasons you d want to do this to allow your mac to run faster but louder or slower but quieter.
Imac cpu fan 4000 rpm.
The cpu fan will start ramping up speed slowly until it seems to be maxed out around 4000 rpm noisy.
The cpu fan still went 4000 rpm and the conclusion was that it is a faulty owc cable.
The odd fan s rpms are strangely high but it s the cpu fan that s out of control.
But my question is can this hurt the fan if its spinning almos.
I just let the auto fan control do the job but most time it needs 90 4300rpm to keep the gpu cool.
To find out if your fans are working at all you can click the custom speed button.
I am in the process of trying to get a replacement however i m worried that the problem wont go away and something else is actually wrong i dont believe the cable and my original hd had the same problem.
On mac computers that have the apple t2 security chip pressing the power button at about the same time that you plug in the power cord can cause the mac to enter a mode in which the fans run at full speed shutting down the mac and starting it up again might not resolve the issue.
Mac s fan control is definitely doing the job for now i m using the cpu heatsink temp as my rpm controller.
Hi all ye i have some temp problems.
To resolve the issue reset the smc your mac should now start up and work as expected.
This is what happens every time i restart my imac.
After running full speed for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes the computer screen goes black.
Apple s auto control aims for somewhere in the middle.
Here are some simple things you can try that might save you a trip.
The same goes if you see a low cpu temperature say around 45 and the fans are running at full speed.
It s not the hdd sdd temp sensor by the way since it s not the hdd fan that s spinning that hot but it certainly is one of the other sensors.
I dont care much now about the big sound it makes because i use a headset in game.
If you see high cpu temperatures say over 80 or 90 degrees and that the fans aren t running you might have an issue.
