Guttering systems are effective in moving rainwater away from your house only if you divert the water that comes out of the downspouts.
How to take water from gutters.
If using a splash block at end of downspout be sure the splash block and ground upon which it rests slope away from the house.
Leaves mud and other debris can be a significant obstacle for flowing water.
Attach elbow to bottom end of downspout and connect a downspout extension to carry rainwater away from the foundation.
Downspouts channel the collected water from the roof to the ground at the corners of the house and other locations.
If you haven t already check your gutters for the aforementioned muck to see if that s the cause.
If you find the muck thoroughly clean it by hand or with a pressure washer.
Follow up the debris removal with a good flushing of water from your garden hose.
Otherwise the downspouts deposit the collected rainwater at your home s foundation.
Make sure the water is flowing freely.
