How to tin a roof valley.

Roof one side of the valley running the shingles across it. Stop nailing 6 inches from the center. Lay one and two tab shingles as you near the valley so full size shingles will run across the valley. Use fasteners to attach the panel to the structure making sure that there is complete compression of the sealant.

Use tape sealant between the valley trim and the panel. The top joinery of both valleys when they meet on the same plane of roof is shown here. Steep slope roofs slope greater than 3 12 cut the panels at an angle for the valley then bend the hem end of the panel and hook it with a cleat. Make sure to cover the gap at the bottom of the raised ridge.

Snap a chalkline 2 to 3 inches past the valley center on the top layer of shingles. Ensure ice and water protector has been installed along the valley first. Cut the bottom edge and fold it down over the drip edge. Fold the top of the flashing over the ridge.

To secure the roof valley flashing nail it down carefully. I have my valley custom made with water trough to help with leaking b.
